Hot on the heels of our last successful production (Wizard of Oz at Theatr Gwaun) all our energies are focussed on the next: a stunning production of Andrew Lloys Webber’s classic musical ‘CATS’.
Because of stringent licensing controls, it’s rare that you’ll see a performance of the full West-End version outside of established mainstream theatres, and with around twenty song and dance sequences executed by a cast of fifty, it is in many ways our greatest challenge yet.
With such sizeable staging demands the choice of venue was important and we are fortunate to have the support of Ysgol Bro Gwaun and their provision of one of North Pembrokeshire’s largest performance areas. Elements of the set are currently being made at the group’s Fishguard base by a construction team led by stage supervisor Carl Slocombe and technical adviser Simon Marshall.
Meanwhile, with just four weeks to go until opening night, rehearsals are in full swing. The dances have been choreographed by talented young duo Caitlin Howe and Jess Merritt, while the four-part choir ensemble have been put through their paces by choir mistress Non Harries. Live music is conducted by musical director Sam Howley, and delivered by a five piece band made up of piano, bass, drums, guitar and keyboard synthesisers.
Pembrokeshire is set for a real treat so make sure you head over to our Tickets page and book yourself a seat!
